A school building in Poland

Families moving to Warsaw often ask the same question first: which English-language school should our children attend? There is no official ranking of international schools in Poland, so this guide does not invent one. Instead it compares three well-known English-language schools in the Warsaw area on what each school itself publishes for the 2026/27 school year: curriculum, accreditation, location and fees.

Fees change every year and each school confirms the exact amount before you sign. Treat the figures below as published list prices, check them on the school's website and ask the admissions office for the binding quote.

The American School of Warsaw (ASW)

ASW describes itself as a non-profit, college-preparatory school for Pre-K to grade 12, founded in 1953. It offers both the American High School Diploma and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. It says it is the only IB Continuum school in Warsaw, teaching the Primary Years Programme from Pre-K to grade 5, the Middle Years Programme in grades 6 to 10 and the Diploma Programme in grades 11 and 12. It is an authorised IB World School and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

The campus is at ul. Warszawska 202 in Bielawa, Konstancin-Jeziorna, which is outside the city limits of Warsaw, so check the commute and the school bus before you choose a home.

  • Pre-Kindergarten: $6,864 plus 40,188 PLN a year
  • Kindergarten: $8,434 plus 52,524 PLN
  • Grades 1 and 2: $10,576 plus 71,180 PLN
  • Grades 3 to 5: $10,996 plus 74,032 PLN
  • Grades 6 to 8: $12,648 plus 76,560 PLN
  • Grades 9 and 10: $12,904 plus 81,076 PLN
  • Grade 11: $12,904 plus 83,316 PLN
  • Grade 12: $12,904 plus 83,968 PLN

Tuition includes textbooks, everyday class supplies, field trips, most after-school activities, IB exams and mild learning support. Lunch and school bus transport are not included. Extra costs for new families include a non-refundable application fee of $150 (or 600 PLN), a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $8,000 for kindergarten to grade 12, and a 12,000 PLN seat deposit for Pre-Kindergarten. New students in grades 1 to 12 who qualify for English as an Additional Language support pay a one-time 19,500 PLN fee. ASW also offers an eight-year contract for corporations, which gives higher admissions priority.

The International American School of Warsaw (IAS)

IAS runs from kindergarten to grade 12 and says it has operated in Warsaw since 1989. It reports that it has been an authorised IB World School since 2006 (IBO school number 003087, which can be checked on the IB website), that it is accredited by Cognia and that it is recognised by the Polish Ministry of Education. It is also an official SAT test centre. In the middle school it is a candidate school for the Middle Years Programme. The school states that candidate status is a stage in the IB process and does not mean authorisation has been granted.

Its students follow an American diploma together with the Polish national curriculum, and in grades 11 and 12 the IB Diploma Programme.

IAS fees for 2026/27 and 2027/28

IAS publishes one set of annual fees that applies to both school years, all in zloty:

  • Kindergarten: 48,000 PLN
  • Grades 1 and 2: 58,000 PLN
  • Grades 3 and 4: 68,000 PLN
  • Grades 5 and 6: 74,000 PLN
  • Grades 7 to 9: 78,000 PLN
  • Grades 10 to 12: 88,000 PLN

There is also an annual, non-refundable enrolment fee of 4,000 PLN, which reserves the place. IB admission and examination fees for grades 11 and 12 are not included. IAS states that discounts do not add together, that a payment made after the 10th of the month forfeits that month's discount and that its figures are an estimate until the office confirms the binding amount.

The British School Warsaw (TBS Warsaw)

TBS Warsaw is part of Nord Anglia Education. It follows the British curriculum from the early years onward, with a Pre-IB programme for ages 15 to 16, then a choice between the IB Diploma Programme and A-Levels for ages 16 to 18. The main school is at ul. Limanowskiego 15, 02-943 Warsaw, and the Early Years Centre is at ul. J. Dąbrowskiego 84, 02-571 Warsaw. The minimum age for enrolment is 2.5 years.

How to compare the schools

  • Curriculum. ASW is IB through the whole school plus an American diploma. IAS combines an American diploma with the Polish national curriculum and the IB Diploma. TBS is British, ending in the IB or A-Levels.
  • Location. ASW is in Konstancin-Jeziorna outside Warsaw. IAS and TBS are in Warsaw itself.
  • True annual cost. Add the one-time fees, exams, lunch and transport. ASW's dollar and zloty parts must both be paid.
  • Accreditation. Check any claim yourself: the IB lists authorised schools publicly.
